Spring | Fun | Sun

Saturday, April 5, 2008

We spent the whole day outside today because it was beautiful out. We rode our bikes, did sidewalk chaulk art, played some sports, took a walk. Good times.

I snapped a few photos, if you're interested:

Spiritual Retreat Photos

Thursday, October 25, 2007

This past weekend some Freewayers went to Pioneer Camp in Port Sydney, Ontario for a spiritual retreat. Good times.

On Sunday we went hiking [and a few of us even went swimming... yes, it's October... yes, the water was freezing].

Here is a link to some photos of the weekend taken by The Mirandom.

Photo Shoot

Thursday, August 9, 2007

One of my good friends, Krista [who I have known for 12 years, has been a Freewayer since the get-go in 2001, and whose husband is my best friend in the world], happens to be a brilliant, super-talented photographer. Today we set out bright and early to take some shots of me in our neighbourhood in downtown Hamilton [I need photos of myself for some promo stuff coming up].

It was so great to grab a coffee, walk around a neighbourhood that we both absolutely love and catch up with each other... it was amusing to see Krista carry all her photography gear around. For instance, she wields the biggest camera lens I have ever seen in my life, the thing must weigh 20 pounds.

By the way, if you are ever looking for a photographer for... well, just about anything anywhere... you should consider Krista Jefferson Photography. She seriously rocks.

Here's a few photos she took today: Link

This 'n' That

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

  • This weekend I am away speaking at a spiritual retreat for Mini-Yo-We Camp LIT's. The great part is that I get to bring my family for the weekend. Should be fun.
  • My book writing day went absolutely stupendously. I am really excited about the project.
  • I am doing a couple of weddings in the next few weeks. Both of which are for folks who are not connected with The Freeway and are people I am just getting to know.
  • We have booked some of our vacation for this year. We have rented a tent-trailer and will be camping for two weeks in July. I can't wait. My kids are an absolute blast to be with on vacation. We have a lot of fun as a family.
  • Me and some "old fart" friends go mountain biking every week during the warm months. Next Saturday will be our first ride together for the year [I have been riding quite a bit on my own and with the kids, we even went out on Saturday with Margie and Melissa, etc.]. It is always a good time for us buddies to ride the trails, get minor injuries, tell stories, and just enjoy some exercise in the great outdoors.
  • Here are some great shots of our worship gathering from a couple weeks ago. I love The Freeway.

Stash Experiment

Monday, May 14, 2007

Last week I shaved my beard and left this mustache:

It was interesting to see people's reaction to it over the course of the few days I had it.

I shaved it off though... because it looked stupid. It was a just a joke.

Thanksgiving House Party

Sunday, October 8, 2006

Yesterday we hosted a few of our friends for a Thanksgiving house party. Good times. We ate amazing food... a lot of it, played some hilarious games [The boys won at Cranium... again], and just thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. It was an absolutely fantastic evening. See all the pictures here: Link

Jen, Natasha, Dave, Kevin and Melissa thanks for being part of our family... especially for Thanksgiving.

Freshly Painted

Sunday, September 10, 2006

I had mentioned that I was working on painting my kids' bedrooms [and the adventures that ensued].

Well, I finished the boys attic bedroom, and I think it turned out great. It's nice and bright and clean now. Their walls were in rough shape, so I had lots of patching and sanding to do. Because of that and all the angles, etc. it took me about 40 hours to actually complete. On Monday we have a carpet-guy coming to give us a quote on carpeting their stairwell [and their room too - we'll see].

Samantha's room turned out amazing. Even though we had to strip wallpaper [never fun] and patch the walls a bit, the subtle green looks awesome: feminine, modern, clean, very nice.

Click here if you want to see some pictures of the rooms.

What Lies Ahead?

Tuesday, August 1, 2006

Last night we had our Open Space Discussion at The Freeway. It was a pretty productive and fun night, I thought. Good time just to hang out with people and hear what they are passionate about in our little community.

I will post some more thoughts and outcomes soon (when I have had a chance to go through all the notes, etc.) but for now, here are some pictures of the evening.

New Orleans - The Update

Monday, July 24, 2006

We had quite the experience down in New Orleans last week. Five of us (Kristyn, Melissa, Nathan, Kevin, and myself) set out on a journey we will not soon forget. Unbelievable really. We met some wonderful people. We worked our arses off in unbearable heat, gutting houses that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina almost a year ago. We saw things we will never forget.

Here are some links:

And here is a video we made (and showed on Sunday night at The Freeway) of our experiences:

Crazy Week, Moving...
Yada Yada Yada

Monday, June 26, 2006

This Friday my family is moving to our new house downtown (several blocks from the coffee house), so we have been busy beavers packing up all our crap for weeks now. But this week is crunch time. This promises to be one crazy 7 or 8 day period: packing, last of week of school for the kids, Margie and I are both working, the first edition of The Hive (our community magazine) is going to print (and will be online), Thursday we move the appliances into the new house, and Friday we move everything else, Sunday is Margie's birthday... now I can call her "my old lady" for real.

FRWY Documentary Film & Photo Shoot

Friday, May 5, 2006

Back in early March, Dave Blondel from Third Space and Pocket Sized Films came down to the Hammer to take some film footage for a movie we're making about The Freeway.

Krista tagged along for part of the afternoon and took some photos for her photo exhibit on downtown Hamilton.

She took these two pictures of me [and probably 20 more... but we'll have to wait until her opening this Saturday to see some of those].
