Generosity

Wednesday, January 3, 2007

We have decided to focus on a particular theme each month at The Freeway this year. We will choose a subject or idea and make it the focus of much of our exploration and learning as a community. This month we are focusing on generosity. Our weekly worship gatherings, film nights, discussion nights, etc. will be exploring what it means to be generous as a community [and as individuals and families]. I hope to post some of our discoveries, ideas, worship elements, pictures, etc. here on the blog, so watch out.

  • I had mentioned that I wanted to explore generosity in my own life this year: Link
  • Randy has some thoughts and suggestions on the subject already over at The Freeway blog: Link

If you'd like some help finding some info on this subject (not that you need it) I know a guy who kinda works in this area for a living and if you'd like I could mention it to him. I think that he has some materials from Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen that you would find fascinating.

    Let me know...

Dave - Thanks, but no thanks. I already have a shiny suit, and I have been brushing up on my copy The Prayer of Jabez... I think I'll be fine.

Pernell you did a great job with a hard topic this sunday.

And your raspy sick voice only added weight to what you were saying, (I hope your getting some rest today).

If you do decide to get a shiny suit I recomend, and Elvis Las Vegas jump suit with an eagle on the back.

Obviously, to keep up with current culture, and in so doing strive to assimilate with society and empathize to "really make a difference", one must look past Olsteen, Dollar and such and go to the quintessential model of in-ness, Benny Hinn. Complete with striped, Neru jacket its flying squirrel logo on his chest, he embodies the elements of real Christianity with its "God wants me to be rich and free from any malady" regardless that the Disciples were persecuted, hung upside down and tormented, we should live as perfect beings. After all, why should we be anything less than perfect as God's Children?
