Lucas Got New Glasses

Thursday, October 19, 2006

Our six year old son, Lucas, got new glasses today. He looks so cute... and so smart. I think he's adorable [even though he cut his own bangs last week - the day before "picture day" at school].

But he is very nervous that people will laugh at him for having glasses... he thinks that he may look silly.

I first got glasses when I was ten... and I got laughed at alot for them. It seems that being a kid [even in grade one] is still tough. There is so much pressure to be like everybody else. To conform. To not be different. To just fit in.

I sure hope Lucas can retain his amazing personality as he grows. He is funny, and energetic, and sensitive, and smart, and amazing at sports, and observant, and an aspiring rock star. He is an incredible boy, who I am so proud of. He honestly makes my life so much richer. He has taught me so much above love... and what life is all about.

I hope the world doesn't beat him down... or make him think he has to be something he's not. I hope they don't pressure him to fill a role that's not his to fill. I hope that he will truly become who he is supposed to be. Who God wants him to be... glasses and all. And I pray that as he grows, he will understand how beautiful he is... and how unique God has created him to be.

Lucas rocks... for real.

Lucas does look great! But I know what you mean when it is hard being a kid. Believe it or not, I had a really rough time in middle school. Grade 4-6 sucked for me, I got picked on sooo much! I hated school. Kids can really be mean but ya know what. I'm definitely better for it. From it I've learn to be more compassionate, patient and understanding of people who may be a little different.

Lucas seems to be a strong boy, personality wise and if he just stays true to who he is (if I can do it he most definitely can do it) he'll be just fine. Who knows what that boy might become. the The next Einstein or Martin Luther King...who know?

And unlike most people wearing glasses, Lucas can shut the laughers up pretty darn quick! haha

I love the little guy and if there's anyone that can make glasses super cool...it's definitely Luke.

He looks adorable. Glasses are way nicer now. When I was a kid they were awful, but they are making them so much nicer he looks great!

I think he'll be bringing home a girl before you know it!
